Saplings is an email-based discussion forum (i.e., emailing list) founded in 1996 by a Pagan teenager named Firefly, initially as nothing more than a cheap scheme to meet other Pagans his own age. Since then, its mission has expanded slightly, to providing a forum where teen- and college-aged Pagans of all paths can meet other like-minded individuals and openly discuss their beliefs on life, the universe, and everything.

Though the list is primarily intended for and populated by young Pagans, several of the longest-standing members are now in their upper twenties, and one has even converted to Christianity since joining; everybody is welcome, as long as they're willing to follow our rules, which is mostly a matter of showing basic courtesy to their fellow list members.

Since the list is unmoderated, subject matter being discussed at any given time varies greatly, and sometimes touches on mature topics. At last count, around 70 members were subscribed, which sometimes leads to quite a bit of traffic on the list.
