The New Year

Wednesday January 01, 2003

This morning I looked out from the bathroom and I saw a large bird flying and circling. I thought it might be an eagle but wasn't sure. As it came around the sun shone on its white head and white tail. I have spotted birds I thought might be a bald eagle before but never so close that I had no doubt. It was beautiful and graceful. I hope it bodes well for the coming year.

F. called me in the morning and he was upset. Lately he has had some communication difficulties with a friend and now a developing friendship has also had problems. He apologized for hurting me and was very disturbed about the hurt others have been feeling. He was doing some painful self-reflection. He got a call in the middle and said he would call back. I shut off the phone and went to spend time with Tom before we began to cook a holiday dinner.

Although we made turkey dinner with stuffing and mashed potatoes and homemade cranberry sauce as well as leftover dinner rolls from our ritual potluck too it was more relaxed than in other years. I didn’t worry about everything getting done on time or at a particular time. We just had a snack when it wasn’t ready at the time we expected it would be. I have had a lot of stress lately and am trying to minimize any additional. While we waited for the turkey to finish raising the last few degrees we opened Yule gifts with Vivre Draco. Tom got chocolate (what a surprise!) and I got books :)
