We ran errands but got back in time to have quick sex before he went to work. I was expecting Linda from the Aphrodite email list but had time to do dishes and make juice for my morning drink before she got there. They arrived (her husband was playing chauffeur) and drove me back to their house.
Then Linda and I went to the Japanese Gardens at the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant. The first part of the gardens is a “dry” garden, with large rocks and gravel, basically a Zen garden. According to the hand out the gravel represents the ocean and the patterns raked into it express waves and the state of the sea. There is a large grass mount that represents Tortoise Island, a symbol of longevity. The island also conceals a 2 story concrete structure required for the sewage diversion system beneath it. In the middle of the dry garden are a group of upright stones, which symbolize the island of immortals and everlasting happiness. They are arranged according to the 3 Buddha style, which is one of the most orthodox of stone arrangements.
There is also an authentic looking teahouse and other interesting architectural elements, such as, a zigzag bridge. Supposedly the bridge is that way to confound evil spirits. If chased evil will continue straight while the person zags.
We had a lovely time then went to an Armenian Deli for dinner and talked a lot. I had the veggie plate with hummus and pita, tabouli, a falafel ball, a kind of salsa-like relish, and a soda. It was all very good. I bought a black cherry soda for Faol and some rum wafers for us both. Afterwards we went back to her house and talked more over lovely herbal tea and stollen.
She showed me the Haiku chapbook, which her group self-published. She asked me to read some of her’s aloud to her. We talked about them and some of the others in the book. I bought one to take home as I thought Tom would enjoy them as well. I had a lovely time. They drove me home to arrive about 11:06.
Faol wasn’t home yet so I was here to greet him. He came home very
very tired though so I got him rum and Santa Clara Rompope and the cookies
I had bought. After a bit we went to bed early.
