Dinner out with Korina

Wednesday April 13, 2005

We were both tired again this morning from a late night but got up and got moving because Leo was coming to work. We headed out to shop at Home Depot to pick up the things that Leo needed. When we got home he was working on wiring so the power was off upstairs, no internet, no phone as the base unit is upstairs and the wireless doesn’t work without electricity. So instead of doing finances after Faol got off to work I ended up sweeping the floor upstairs, the stairs and living room, cleaning out the cat box, doing some journaling, then Tom returned my call and we chatted for about an hour. Shortly I need to clean the bathtub so I can take a bath and get ready to go to dinner with Korina.

She arrived early and we headed out to Pho 79 for pho, a kind of noodle beef soup, pronounced fuh. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open so we went to a Chinese restaurant instead. I knew as soon as I saw the inside that it was going to be more expensive what with the curved stairs leading upward, marble and mirrors. Upstairs were tanks of live crab, shrimp, and prawns. I ordered shrimp in lobster sauce and we shared the hot and sour soup, and sautéed bakchoi. She had baked crab in garlic sauce, which arrived in shell without tongs, hammers, or anything other than chopsticks to eat it with. It was very messy but she dove in and managed anyway. I had a bit of it and ended up licking fingers in order to clean enough to wipe on the napkin! Good though:)

We spent a couple of hours chatting and eating, eating and chatting, and ended the meal sharing mango pudding. While I did enjoy the food quite a bit it was really the company that was the best. Now we are still talking about trying to get together for pho before I leave. I hope it happens as it has been very nice to spend the time with her.

When Faol got home from work we went upstairs to the desktop to watch the DVD, Epoch, that we had rented. We had a good time with it but I was so tired I kept drifting off. It was a bit odd. I hung on the edge of sleep so that I could hear the dialog and basically knew what was going on but never noticed that my eyes had closed until the scene changed or a voice was raised or there was some change that caught my attention again. Then I would suddenly become aware that my eyes were closed and once again “wake up” and watch the movie.
