Day of the 7 Souls Ritual

Saturday June 4, 2005

I was too tired for the Non-Violent Communication workshop. Faol and I stood together in the kitchen having a snack listening to the workshop. Both of us spontaneously decided we needed to nap so we slipped off to my bedroom and laid down for 30 minutes. Afterward I got up and Tom and I began to set up the ritual area. It took the full hour that I had allotted and a bit more. Next time I should schedule an hour and a half for that. I had hoped to have time to get dressed then spend half an hour meditating before the ritual run through. But I had just enough time for dressing then dashed out and went over the ritual with those helping with it. We ended up being 15 minutes late. But we were ready and began.

I thought it went well. I was able to pull myself together for it. Phoenix sang the verses that she wrote originally for this ritual. Afterwards I heard from several people that they felt it added a great deal, was very sweet, wouldn’t be the same without it, etc. All of those carrying the 7 Souls did a good job and some of them learned a bit about each other and came away with a new respect when they had the opportunity to go around to the other Souls as well.

The potluck was wonderful as always and I was able to sit down and enjoy it. I had a taste of chocolate mead from Saille’, some vanilla mead given to me by my son, some Hot Sex (a drink), and a glass of wine. I sat at the fire and listened to the wonderful music of the Good Luck Charms. Phoenix was great as always. I think they have really grown as performers but some of my pleasure is the nostalgia of hearing some songs that I have heard before and love. There is something about several of them that always touch my heart.

Eventually I went to bed. Before I good really fall asleep people came into the house. It was raining and windy. We got up and found towels and blankets and sheets to try and make them warmer. Tents were shaking; some went down. Some got very wet. Some hunkered down and made it through the night.

So BelSummer ended with a light show and a bang.
