A Long Day Out

Wednesday June 15, 2005

We got up at 6:30 am to get ready to take Clarissa to the Best Little Cat House in Pasadena for a kitty clip. After dropping her off we took Faol to his Dr appointment to check out his broken arm. They x-rayed it and I was able to see the fracture. It is certainly still there but he is regaining a wider range of motion. He actually touched his nose, something he had not been able to do with that arm since he fell. We also dropped off the x-rays that the hospital loaned him to take to the Dr. Then Faol took me to see Batman Begins for my birthday. He offered me a choice between that and a fancy lunch but I wanted to see the movie. There was a line it that I thought was quite profound – It was something about it not being who one is underneath but what one does that defines one. We stopped and got a slice of Pizza for lunch before the movie. All in all it was a very nice time.

Afterwards we went to pick up Clarissa though they had not called to tell us she was ready. It was an hour and a half after they had indicated she would be done. They had not even started on her. We drove around a bit because it would have taken half the time they said it would be to go home and back, then stopped to get a smoothie as I was thirsty. I had a Strawberry Wave and Faol had a Sunset Surprise. They were both delicious. We drove around some more, parked for a bit, and sat listening to the radio. Finally just before 5 my phone went out (ran out of juice) so we went back and they were at least working on her. Faol and I got to go into the cat room and pet them. They all seemed to want a lot of attention. And they all loved him.

Clarissa looked pretty good when she was finally done. Her fur was clipped to about ½ inch all over instead of the something like the 3 inches it usually is. I had been concerned about her feeling traumatized but she behaved as if things were ok once she got home.

By the time we got home we were pretty tired.
