Tom and I went to a lasagna dinner at Corey’s home. His roommate, Karen, went to a great deal of trouble to host a dinner party as a thank you to those of us who helped them move. It was very gracious of her and I must admit more that I would have done in her place but I choose to learn from her example and will remember to give back more to those who have helped me in the future. The lasagna was good and served with a salad and garlic bread. Everything was very yummy. Karen’s mother was also there and brought rhubarb cake. I love rhubarb. The company was pleasant. I renewed my acquaintance with Sarah Jean from our WIP list. I like her.
And I had the opportunity to watch my son in the midst of friends. He was more social than I usually see him. The contrast between his behavior with them and his behavior with me when we stepped into his bedroom to try and download my pictures from my digital camera was quite telling though. He turned into a somewhat whiny reluctant irritated child. That doesn’t speak well for my parenting but at least I am very glad to see him as a social adult with his friends. And the woman he is “sort of dating” was present. It was nice to see them together obviously attracted to each other. I wish him well in the relationship. She seems like a very nice woman, a bit sarcastic and firm in her opinions, which seems like a good choice for him. What will come of it I don’t know though whatever makes him happy is okay with me.
We also played a card game. It was quite enjoyable though I never won even one round (pout). As it turned out Tom won. It was called Apples to Apples. I think Tom was relatively comfortable in the group and even seemed more animated than usual. I know he had a good time though I don’t know if he would admit it. We left a bit earlier than we might otherwise since we had to get up early on Saturday to go to Freedom Fest.
At home we quickly packed up for our one day only attendance. I took more
Ibuprofen for my shoulder and it was off to bed.
