Freely Given Abundance

I slept through the night again last night though I did sit up for it. Perhaps the 4 Ibuprofen before bed is helping. It has been a pretty lazy day today. The sun is shining and it is a bit breezy and cool. A perfect fall day as far as I am concerned. Faol had a Drs. appointment this morning so I called him with enough time for he and I to talk for a bit while he was getting ready to go. That worked out pretty well and we had a good time.

Tom and I went out to make a deposit prior to taking a walk and I started feeling poorly. It may have been motion sickness though as I did feel better after we got back and I was out of the car for awhile. But it didn’t seem like a good idea to take the long walk on the land that I had been planning so we just wandered about the orchard for a bit. We tasted the apples from a tree in the back that has the best eating apples. It doesn’t bear heavily but it has a few on it this year despite the drought. I liked the one I tried but they weren’t quite ripe yet. The concord grapes though have many ripe and near ripe so we went back to the house for the kitchen scissors. We harvested about ¾’s of a basket of grapes so I could make a grape pie and a small batch of honey grape jam. Back at the house I used the internet to look up recipes for jam substituting honey for the sugar. I came across a pineapple honey jam made with canned crushed pineapple that I really want to try too.

I sat on the sofa and put the step stool next to me with a pot of the harvested grapes on one step. The destemming process went pretty quickly and I am hoping didn’t stress out my hand too much. There were 12 cups of grapes when I was through, which is enough for a pie and batch of jam. The vines still have quite a bit more grapes on them and I may go back and get another small basket on Monday if I get these grapes processed on Sunday. I would like to take a jar of the jam out to Faol when I go. And I want to try the cran-grape recipe.

Joyful called and we talked about the book we are collaborating on. I had written about a page, largely giving a view of one of the characters. She is doing one of the other characters but was unable to find the time to do it as Faol has been having back problems and was home instead of going to work again. Hopefully she got some time this evening and we can discuss the character before she leaves on Tuesday. In any case we discussed a potential opening scene and I plan on doing some work on that before our next conversation.
