I took down the one set of red drapes so that we could put them back up behind the sofa, which is where we wanted to put it in the first place. They are quite heavy though and I was aware of the strain in my hands. When I took down the old set of drapes they came off with the little snap on piece attached so I had to pry them off with a screwdriver to use them on the new drapes. While I was doing it I was thinking about having to be careful of my hands and I thought about what it must be like for someone with a more serious physical problem, one perhaps differently-abled. I have been having to be careful, husbanding the strength of my hands, living on anti-inflammatories to protect and maintain their functionality during this flareup. But I expect that it will pass and that they will improve even though I may always have to keep an eye on overuse. What is it like though for those who always have their ability to function on their minds all the time, who must always figure out how to work around their physical difficulties, or get others to help? My minor chronic problems have been something that has begun to shape aspects of my life. If it were more serious my whole life might be warped around it.

We were going to do the jam today but never quite got around to it as Tom had work he had to do and I needed his help. Since we were going out to pick up munchies for the weekend we stopped at Trillium in Mt. Horeb and found the Pomona Universal Pectin that works with honey. Yay! We also picked up a couple of comedies to watch. We are both feeling the need for something funny and light hearted with all the Katrina news and Iraq news, and politics, and worries about the future.

I called Mom to tell her that the book she keeps asking me to get was never published. The web site for Judith McNaught, one of her favorite romance authors, explained it and had a list of all the published books. I printed it out and mailed it to her. Now she has another romance author she is interested in so I printed out a list of their available books later and will send it to her in a few days. At least she will get a couple of pieces of interesting, to her, mail.
