Most of August was spent in L.A. It began well with my being quite productive both in Faol’s house and with Grok Fellowship. It was also a month of going to new places, seeing new things, meeting new people and having new experiences. Faol took me to Disneyland, and to visit a friend in prison, which was an interesting experience, strange and sad. We went to a movie investor’s party and we went to Mt. Pinos to visit an online connection of Faol’s.
The first few days I was out there were better than it has been for a while. Then we went to the party and the problems started up again. We had difficulties for about 3-4 days. Things smoothed out again but they weren’t as good as they had been before the problems. The last week I was there when we went to Mt. Pinos there was a kind of repeat of the problem we had at the beginning of my time there and I was very very upset.
We saw a couple of movies, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Four Brothers. The first was fun and strange while the second was violent and emotional. It turns out it is a modernized remake of a John Wayne movie. It amazes me how often the same stories provide creative inspiration for another generation.
The last week Joyful came out, overlapping with me. We got a lot of work done cleaning the kitchen, getting a load of compost and spreading it in the yard, etc. Unfortunately my hands are having a flare up of carpal tunnel symptoms, and the index finger of one hand is numb while the other hand is having some tingles and tics so the work made that worse. But we got a lot done and during the first several days of overlap the three of us had a good time. After that there was too much drama all around for me.
I had a close encounter with a spider and didn’t freak out, a small triumph.
Once back home I have not been feeling very motivated to do anything so not
getting much done. But we did finally get out and replace our car with a newer
used one. I have been dealing with shoulder problems again and the progressive
numbness in my index finger, which is now like having a shot of Novocain and
a really unpleasant feeling whenever it is touched or touches anything. And
I suggested to Faol that we stop talking every day, instead moving to Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday, and one of the weekend days, which ever works out.
He agreed.
