Dealing with Shit

Monday November 7, 2005

We got up a tad late after last night but sat around chatting. I called Faol since I knew I would be going out to the barn soon and wouldn’t have a chance to talk with him but he didn’t answer. I figured he was probably asleep. After several hours I took a tea break because I was feeling very emotional about all the disgusting mess of mouse nests and crap in my stuff. Much of my arts and crafts boxes with yarn and projects were completely destroyed. I don’t know how Linda could stand to go through each of the boxes but she did it, removing the nests and shaking out or wiping off the turds before passing it to me to see if there was anything in the box I wanted (and was salvageable of course). It got to me and I needed to get away from it so went in the house for tea. There was a message from Faol so I called him back but he didn’t answer. I went to the bathroom and thought I heard a voice. Sure enough he had called back right away. So I called him back and got him. It was very helpful to talk with him while making and then drinking the tea. Just hearing his voice often helps my mood. He was very supportive then spent time talking about what was going on with him.

I went back out and we worked some more. Eventually we had a few victories, as Linda called them. Boxes of fabric that had been packed in plastic bags were fine. And I took the fabric into the storage room to go through it later. Several boxes of books including some magickal books were also fine so they also went into the storage room. Everything was taken out of their boxes though to be repacked in clean ones. The boxes were smelly and mouse turds and urine on the outside but with the plastic on the inside much of the contents was uncontaminated. We ended up with a huge pile of boxes to burn.

Linda seemed to feel we had made great progress and there was a clear space but there was so much left to do. Or so it seemed to me. We took another break and went in so Linda could have lunch and I could get more tea. We took in various items including a small (about 4”x4”) loom. Linda asked to borrow it. I hope she enjoys using it. I do want it back though because it is fun to do and I think, I can come up with a nice little project to do on it for a change of pace.

It was nearly dark before Linda left. I was tired and she had done the worst of the work but still had over an hour drive to get home.

Tom spent the day working on installing our new antenna and repositioning it. He was up and down the roof all day fiddling but by evening had not gotten it done. He did have the old one set up enough so we could watch tv for the night.
