A Big New Toy

Thursday November 10, 2005

I did all my exercises and a load of dishes. I woke up early and got moving since I knew we were going out. I talked with Faol today though it isn’t one of our agreed upon days since he is going to be gone for the weekend and we won’t get a chance to talk until Monday, most likely. He told me he was proud of me for dealing with all the old boxes and crap. That felt good.

We headed into Madison after lunch but I had taken anti-histamines due to sinus problems, probably due to dust and dander from the barn yesterday, so Tom ended up doing all the driving though that is pretty common anyway. We had a list of errands and stops to make from getting vitamins to picking up a hormone prescription from the dr. to take to Walgreens so I can get it refilled when necessary in CA (so far the lower dose hormones seem to keep hot flashes at bay and haven’t triggered a period yet – so far so good), to checking out a wide screen tv.

Tom had a list of brands that he had checked and compared, and gotten reviews on. We went and compared visual impressions of the ones highest on his list and decided we liked the 44” Panasonic best so we got it. He had been putting money aside for the last year whenever there was money to do so and now that he got an unexpected bit of money from his inheritance (he found unclaimed monies in his mom’s name, filed for it, waited a year for them to finally figure it out, and we just got a check which paid for half the TV – Yay!) We are quite excited about the unexpected bonus and the new toy.

They had to take the top of the box off the TV though to get it in our car but we got it home safely. I couldn’t help him get it out of the car though so he tilted it and lowered it to the drive then dragged it in the house. It was a bit of a struggle getting it out of the rest of the packaging too. We cleaned off the spot the old tv was, removed my “tv altar” and various goddess statues, and got the new tv on the end table we use for a tv stand. Then Tom spent time playing with it. It is quite a large image and it is going to take getting used to. One thing I am sure about is that commercials do not look better, bigger.
