Drive Along the Coastline

Saturday November 26, 2005

I woke up before Faol and showered then got the tea made. I woke up Faol who got up and bathed. He called the new one to arrange to hook up with her for breakfast as had been discussed the day before but she never answered. He got very funky so I went into the living room, plopped myself down in a patch of sun on a pillow and read one of the books on the shelves. Eventually he got dressed and worked on getting out of it.

We went to hook up with the Spicy one and her boyfriend. It was nice to meet the one who is occupying so much of her attention right now. But I must admit that I couldn’t help but compare him to Faol to his detriment though she cares for him. He suggested a place to eat on our way out as we had not yet had breakfast.

The restaurant was near the ocean. I loved watching the waves as we ate. We walked down onto the beach at Faol’s suggestion so I could touch the ocean. You would think being so close to it in L.A. we would get out to the beach more often but somehow we are always doing something else. It was very cold and windy though so we left pretty quickly. We took the scenic route towards home along the coast and I enjoyed the watching the ocean and rocks along the coastline. We took a short cut and ended up in a long “stop and go” line for an hour. Faol drove the whole way. His stamina and ability to keep going always amaze me. And this despite the chronic back pain he lives with. He never makes be feel bad about not being able to help him or keep going as long as he can. Instead he seems accepting about taking care of me in a way that is sometimes humbling. Tom is like that occasionally as well, particularly when I am over-tired and losing it a bit emotionally. That is an area I can count on them both. It is an incredible feeling.

We got home about 9:30 pm and I was tired. There was a phone call from a friend of Faol’s that he had lost touch with quite a few years ago. He was delighted and called her back.
