End of Polycon

Sunday April 1, 2001

I woke up relatively early to go to the Seeker's Circle that Jack was facilitating. We were there about 30 min. early so we talked about one of the Celtic Myths I had read. It was about the Son of the King of Erin and the Giant of Lock Le'in. I found it very interesting. It is filled with three's and seems to be basically a tale of becoming a shaman from a Celtic perspective. I am interested in analyzing it and am planning on doing an essay on it for fun.

Once the Seeker's Circle got started we did a small water sharing. Then we talked some about polyamory and the perception by many that it is all about sex with multiple partners rather than about relationships, which may include sexual activity. We talked about how some view CAW as being just about partying and sex. I felt that it was due to our support of polyamory, positive sexuality, and open attitudes about sex. From my varied experience in the Pagan community I don't think CAW has any more people on the make than others in the community. I do think we are more honest about our desires though, and for some that may be too much.

After the Circle I got Tom's tea but when I got back to the room he was actually out of bed. We finished packing then went to the continental breakfast being supplied by the con. They did the baking so most everything was homemade. I had the cinnamon rolls. At breakfast I found out our poly group was assessed $140 in fees by the hotel for inappropriate dress in the hotel areas, inappropriate behavior in the pool area, noise at night that disturbed the other guests, and a couple of the con participants were caught having sex in the meeting room at 3 am. The hotel received complaints and had to reimburse the money. We didn't get banned from the hotel anyway. After breakfast was a Talent show - our poly group has a lot of talented folks. I didn't know how many of them could play instruments and sing well. We stayed to hear Phoenix do the Polyamory Blues, which she did as a duet with Barney. Phoenix wrote it and with each relationship that doesn't work out it gets more verses.

After the talent show we left to come home. There was 7 minutes until the late checkout time was up so we dashed back to the room to grab our bag and hurried to the desk along with most of the remaining con participants. Our trip wasn't too long, only an hour and a half. It seemed shorter to me though as I slept through much of it. I was still tired from the late nights and lack of sleep. I woke up Sunday morning with a stiff neck so we hit the hot tub as soon as we got home.
