Thursday we went into Madison in order to take Corey to a possible job site. He did the application and took the personality and computer knowledge tests. We haven't been happy that he moved out 2 ½ months ago but didn't do anything about getting a job. Now he is almost out of money and will be coming home at the end of the month unless we pay for his next month's living expenses. We will probably do that for one month but after that he has to have a job because we can't afford to keep it up. I also don't think it is good for him to have his parents paying for his living expenses so that he doesn't have to take responsibility for himself. We also took him to a place to have his contacts made but he hasn't had his eyes checked for over a year so that didn't work out. He is on the last pair of disposables and has been wearing them long enough.
We also went to a fabric store and Tom helped me go through the pattern books for a tunic. I want to make new ritual garb and have a particular idea in mind. We were able to find something that would do but I still have to go back into Madison for fabric as we really didn't have the time to find what I want.
And I am planning for BelSummer so we went to a bead shop looking for beads to represent the 7 souls in the Calling and Healing ritual. I bought beads to give to participants for each soul they feel the need to work with. Of course, at this point I don't know how many people are going to show up and probably won't until it is too late to purchase more. So we will just have to make what we have work. I would have bought more, just in case, but we only ask for a $5 donation to pay for the porta-loo. Since we only broke even last year it is unlikely that we would collect enough to pay for the beads too. I had considered making them but don't feel that I have enough time for it this year. Perhaps, another year if we do something similar again.
We also mailed Nest to Nest so that is done and out. It is still a little late since it was supposed to arrive in the mailbox by Spring Equinox but it is almost back on schedule. I am not sure though that I will ever really be on schedule as there is always something that comes up and therefore causes delay. The next issue is due out just after BelSummer and I will be doing my fast then.
Friday I started a 2-day juice fast as a trial run for the 7-day fasting vision quest I will be doing in June. That will be a juice fast as well. It hasn't been bad. I web surfed to find out about doing it but mostly it didn't seem like much of a risk. Juice provides quite a bit of calories (well about 1/3 to ½ of my usual calories) so it is maintaining my blood sugar level reasonably well and I haven't been ravenous, only a little hungry. My main concern was for the tachycardia I have but so far that hasn't been a problem either. From my reading it doesn't look like it would be for a short fast in which I drink juice. I am also considering taking bananas with for the 7-day one, or banana juice if I can find it. It would provide potassium and a more stable blood sugar level for a longer fast. But I don't think it will be necessary. We went for a long walk on the land and I did notice that coming back up the last hill was more tiring than usual. I don't know whether that was just psychological or not though.
Today it was a beautiful, balmy day, somewhat unusual for this time of year in WI. There has been quite a wind all day too. This morning it was causing the power to flicker, which reset my server several times. I finally had to shut it down. That was annoying. It was really marvelous though to feel the wind. I always feel a sense of energy has the wind gusts come towards me and sweep past caressing me. We went in the hot tub and I enjoyed the feel of the wind on my body. But it kept blowing leaves and small twigs into the water. Then the cover tried to blow away. When we went to put the cover on the tub the wind caught it and blew it into and past us. Tom grabbed it and we fastened it in place.
I have begun working on the next issue of Dragon's Breath, the official webzine of the StarDragon Branch of CAW. Since it is a webzine, at least I don't have to get it printed, then fold them, stamp them, and mail them. Ken, from my nest, will get it up on the web when I have it finished. So that is one less thing to do.
