This week has been rainy, windy, and gray. Tom and I took a brief walk on Monday, just down a trail. Then we discovered that the wind had blown our neighbor's garbage all over our field and into the forest. We spent quite a bit of time picking it all up. We got a full garbage bag, one large cardboard box, and two Styrofoam inserts and there is probably more. It was depressing.
We also found out on Monday I think, that my son was laid off from the same company that Tom consults for. So it looks like the next project he was supposed to be getting may be dead. That leaves all the men in my immediate family out of work. Sigh…
Tuesday though was a nice day so we went for a long walk on the land. We rediscovered (Tom says discovered for the first time but I know that we have been there before just a long time ago.) a small area of rocks tumbled across the landscape. They appear to have been uplifted and tilted, as if a giant had tossed a handful of dice down. Some of them seem to make lines of vertebrae of some large animal. I am calling the area Dragonbones. We spent a lovely couple of hours clambering over the rocks and following the wet weather streambed up and over to the big cliff. We came back tired and hot and sweaty. Going into the hot tub after a lot of exercise seems to be our pattern. Ok, any excuse gets us in the hot tub:)
I also spent some time reading Crafted Cup by Shadwyn. I found it very interesting as much of the general philosophical beliefs expressed were also along the lines of my own beliefs. It got me thinking about theological expression and how I feel about my ritual work being a theological whole, and not bits and pieces cobbled together. While I am not drawn to a tradition based on the Arthurian legends this is an interesting mixture of Wicca and Gnostic Christianity. Any book that encourages me to think, to re-examine my own beliefs, and offers interesting points of view is worth reading to me.
Today Tom took the car in for its regular check-up, tune-up, oil change, differential fluid change, flush and change the anti-freeze, wheel alignment, rotate the tires, check the brakes, etc. He was there all day long and came home quite tired. He also met with our boys so that he could give Corey a check to pay for his eye exam and contacts. Hopefully Corey will get a job soon.
I worked on my Priestess training program and had a good day. I did a brief ritual and magickal working. I did trance work, read Applied Visualization, and Fearless Creating. Then worked on rewriting the 7 Souls ritual we are doing for BelSummer. Afterwards I spent a couple of hours researching online grad programs. The main thing I discovered is that they are as expensive as residency programs, which do not make a whole lot of sense to me.
