Today I woke up feeling not very motivated. I didn't do my exercises. I spent time chatting on ICQ with my kids at various times. Kevin has an interview today. That's the second one since he got laid off (that I know of). He seems to really be out there looking. I read a free employment newspaper, and gave Corey a job idea. It wouldn't be something that he would want to do for very long, I imagine, but it would tide him over and pay enough that he wouldn't have to come home again. I saw an ad about a job typing for a company that does text telephone interfacing with people calling a deaf person. Corey can type pretty fast and is familiar with computers. They offer part time jobs and flexible shifts.
We went to town to pick up library books that I had on hold but it is Good Friday and they were closed, much to my surprise. I had forgotten that things might be closed. None of the other stores were though. We rented a couple of movies. We checked all the bushes we had planted around the Dearinth - 5 of the 7 we planted last year are dead. Argghh!!! The Highbush Cranberry bushes went up $2.00 this year so even the bare root ones are $7.95 each. This year we can only afford to replace the dead ones not get extras. I am not happy about the cost. My plan is to try and take cuttings from the ones growing well and root them. I will have to pot them and raise them in the house. Then we can hopefully transplant them next year.
I spent the morning working on my rewrite of the 7 Souls ritual. I got most of it written and printed out. I still need a chant to call the souls back. Each of the 7 Souls: Ancestral, Body, Mind, Will, Heart, Divinity, and Center, are aspected by someone. I will invoke and evoke them in turn. After the invocation I would like to have a chant/song that we all can sing to bring the Souls back to us. I asked a man from our poly club about writing it. He said he would do it so I am waiting for that.
While reading Psychology of Religion by Murray Hope I got a vague idea for another ritual based on 7 again. They mentioned the opera, Magical Flute and the initiatory aspects of it. It led me to think of doing a weekend long ritual with an opening ritual, say on a Friday night, that sets up a kind of quest and trial. The trial by the 7 directions would really begin the next day with people representing the directions on call at different times during the day. This would make the trials mostly individual. Then the main ritual would finish it up, pull every thing together, and honor the initiatory-like experience of each. It might be nice to also have a talisman made from symbols gained through the successful completion of the trials. At the moment I don't have any ideas for what the trials might be or what form the rest of the ritual would take but I will let it sit for awhile and I imagine it will come.
I finally got the quarterly nest report forms emailed out to nest coordinators or contacts for filling out. Looking at what I just wrote it seems like more got done than I feel like I actually accomplished.
