DJ was visiting from OH. She is applying to become a postulant and Jack is her Clergy Advisor. I think very highly of Jack for a number of reasons and his handling of being an advisor is adding another reason to a very long list. He feels that an advisor should actually have contact with the postulant he is advising and he contacts her rather than leaving everything up to her. He meets her at least halfway. They have agreed together to meet face-to-face a certain number of times in the next year. The support that he will give her in her process towards clergy will be a significant help and apparently unusual, which I think is a pity. This is something that should be the norm not a rarity.
Jack and DJ came over to visit and to give us an opportunity to get to know each other better. I enjoyed the visit. DJ is from Florida before she moved to OH and has not really adjusted to the cold northern Midwest yet. It was about 45 degrees here with a brisk wind and she was very iffy about going in the hot tub. She did gamely give it a try though. I suggested that she come back in the winter and we could get out in it when it was 20 but she didn't think that was such a good idea.
Jack brought over copies of the material I needed to finish up the Sweetwood books and I was able to send the quarterly report to them that evening. I am glad to have gotten it done.
