First thing this morning, as usual, I downloaded my email. And I found out this why I didn't get accepted into the Grad program that I had applied for. Apparently I didn't describe why my experience as a NeoPagan priestess reflects a commitment to diversity well enough and they didn't seem to get it without having it pointed out to them. NeoPaganism is a minority religion that is discriminated against. Parents have had children taken away. It is treated in the media in a shameful way. I am part of the overall diversity. They also didn't see how being a leader of a NeoPagan group and being called to do pastoral counseling qualified as substantive counseling experience. I wonder if I had said that my counseling experience came from pastoral counseling in a Christian church whether they would have then assumed a "substantive" experience. I am very pissed and depressed this morning. This is a program that specifies its multicultural orientation but clearly I don't fit their mold on that.
It affected my mood all morning. I just couldn't seem to pull out of it. In the afternoon though we went out to get the bushes planted. Anne hadn't shown up yet but we wanted to be sure we would be done before Tea&Talk. We had planted one of the bushes and was starting on the second when she showed up. It was good to see her again and she brought goodies too:) She brought a decent size highbush cranberry that had been dug out because it was a weed where it was growing. She also tells me that she may be able to get more for us. That would be great! There were more goodies too, a Lady's Mantle plant, Lamb's Ear, and purple Columbine. We finished planting the rest of the bushes but she didn't stay to visit as she was on her way to an Earth Day event at Sweetwood. After she left I was in a much better mood.
The BelSummer flyers finally got printed out so that I could take them to Tea & Talk. And Anne took some with her for the event at Sweetwood and for some friends of hers. I am hoping we get a few more people than last year. Only 19 people came to Tea & Talk and most of those came late so I didn't bother with the announcement section. But everyone seemed to have a good time and we collected the necessary donation money for the room rental. We were invited to an afterparty but it was late and we were tired. Those going to it are pretty much night owls while I am a morning person.
