Yesterday and today we worked on planting the daylilies in the orange Dearinth path. Tom took the mattock and cut through the sod, pulling it up, and making a narrow trench down the middle between the path as it snaked back on itself. I came behind crawling on hands and knees to plant the bulbs. There wasn't much loose soil as it was all caught up in the roots of the sod so to plant involved breaking apart the sod with my hands to try and get some of the soil loose. Then I turned the sod upside down and placed it between and next to the bulbs. We planted about half yesterday and the rest today. Boy do I ache! There must be something about the position that pulls on my thighs. And later when I got in the hot tub my knees burned as if they were scraped but they weren't. I feel very good about actually making progress with the Dearinth though. Mowing the paths has to be done regularly just to keep even and with some of the bushes dying off we have just been staying level. This is actual progress!!
I updated the SweetWood finances. We got a new member - that was good. And I have sent out the expiration notices (only one member expired) as well as letting a couple people know that they were overdue. It isn't very critical with them though as they are very regular in their payments. This was also an Earth day event at Sweetwood. I thought about going but this is too early in the year for me to be camping outdoors in WI and truthfully I wanted to be working on my own land. I wish we had the extra money to do some more plantings (along with the energy and motivation when we actually have the money:)
The money to reserve the shelter at a Park for Pagan Pride in September has to be sent in soon. We don't have any money raised for it yet so I emailed other nest members to see if they would be comfortable with our nest, StarSpring, fronting the shelter payment. I hope everyone is cuz it would make it easier than trying to get everyone on the committee to come up with some money now to cover it.
