Pushing, Digging, Sanding, Help Arrives

We all got up early and they headed out to try to get the car out again. They tried for hours and still nothing. We finally had to get a tow truck to pull the other truck out. It was parked at the end of the driveway just a few feet off the drive and the road. Unfortunately they were stuck too and since we couldn't get our 4-wheel drive out either, we couldn't pull them out. Luckily they had towing insurance (I think it is part of Triple A or something.)

Finally I called a neighbor who does excavation work and might have equipment to get the other car out. It turned out that he had just gotten someone else out of a similar situation. The township was letting people come and get bucketsful of a sand/salt/gravel mix to use on their private drives. He went and filled up 16 buckets for us, then brought his ATV over. It had chains on so it could go on ice but it just slid down our glass hill. They went back and forth using our car on the driveable part from bottom of last hill to bottom of close hill, and walked the rest of the way. The crew went out to do the work but I stayed home.

I felt guilty about it but due to chronic tendonitis I can't actually push a car, carry buckets of sand, or dig sand, and still use my hands afterwards. Unfortunately, they also take several weeks to recover from something like that. There were 4 other people besides our neighbor to help Tom but I still feel bad about it. At least it could be seen as a bonding experience for some of the members of the nest. But I am afraid that Phoenix won't come back for rituals in the winter after this. They finally got out about 6 pm on Monday evening and headed home.
