Off to Freedom Fest

Friday June 29, 2001

Tom had a business matter he was trying to finish all day. So I worked on freezing the 2nd flat of strawberries all morning, took a shower, then worked on finishing the packing. Tom helped me do some of the packing in the morning before he started work. We ended up leaving for the Fest later than planned but he still couldn't get the work done so we will have to come home after the main ritual on Sunday night. That way he can work on it in the morning on Monday and ship it off.

The porta-potties had not been delivered when we got to SweetWood. That was quite an annoyance. I really didn't want to go off into the woods and encounter the poison ivy, which does grow there. Jack had to go back to his house (they live 15-20 min. from the land) to call again so I went off with him to use his bathroom. And it also gave us a nice chance to catch up a bit:) Tom stayed and unloaded and put up the tent. But we agreed that he wasn't going to set up our whole camp til I got there to help. He had things nearly set up anyway though.

We all went to the circle area for the opening circle. It was a nice little ritual of connection to get things started and a watersharing. We ended up doing a dance, (some were doing the conga) chanting for the porta-potty to show up. Almost immediately after the ritual they came.
