I finished packing the last items then spent the morning doing things like sending the webmaven the next issue of Dragon's Breath, the webzine of StarDragon Branch, answering email that needed to get done before I left, etc. Then we dashed off to the airport. When we got there we discovered that my flight had been cancelled due to snow in Denver. Sigh… Luckily they were able to book me a flight on another airline that only flew out 1 hour later. And since it had an hour less layover I actually got to San Jose about 20 minutes sooner than originally scheduled.
On the airplane I chatted with a woman from MN who was moving back to CA because the winters were just to hard for her. We talked about weather, relative expenses between the two states, property taxes, etc. She had had a 2 million dollar home in Laguna Beach so was clearly in a different social class than I am :)
I didn't have a window seat so wasn't really able to watch the takeoff or landing or stare blissfully out at the clouds but the flight was uneventful and we got in on time. Pierce was a bit late to pick me up but I was expecting that he might not be able to get away from work earlier (he had planned his schedule based on the previous arrival time). We had an interesting discussion on the way back to his and Tina's new home about biodiesel.
When I arrived Tina had dinner ready. That woman can certainly cook! I very much enjoyed it. It was wonderful to see her again. We haven't had a lot of opportunity to spend time getting to know each other and I am looking forward to it. Orion, who is now their housemate, was also home. We spent a lot of time reconnecting and getting to know each other better. As a clergy postulant one of the things that seems important to me and to the clergy is the heartfelt connection and energetic connection that will allow us to work together. Orion's support of my postulancy has meant a great deal to me and I am looking forward to getting to know him better.
Before toddling off to the comfortable bed available to me I spent a relaxing time in their hot tub:)
