Saturday Chores

Saturday May 12, 2001

There was another tree down partially blocking the drive so we went out in the morning to clear it off. The tree is actually hung on a couple of small birches, one of which is completely broken off with the broken end wedged into the ground and the top end wedged against the top of the tree on the other side of the driveway. It looks pretty stable for now so Tom isn't going to try and cut it loose. Several large pieces of bark had been stripped from the birch tree so I collected them and brought them home in order to make a primitive mask for the ancestral altar I am going to do.

I transplanted the rose cuttings that I took from the cut flowers on the altar 6 weeks ago. They had developed roots but not a good amount so I am not sure, now, that they will survive the transplanting but if not I will try again with others. The cuttings that I took from the highbush cranberry bushes are still doing ok. A couple of them have died but most are still alive. Whether they will actually root and survive is yet to be seen but I believe that at least a few of them will. I heard from a nest mate that lovely Anne has some more bushes for us. When we will be able to get them from her I don't know but I am delighted at the possibility.

We are having a Dearinth work party tomorrow followed by a SweetWood Board meeting, and now I have found out that my children are coming for Mother's Day. It will be a full day.
