Leavetaking

I packed up last night. At first I couldn't get everything in the bag that I had come with. R. said it was because I didn't want to go so I took everything out and repacked. It still didn't fit. This time I took everything back out and told it I understood that I didn't want to go but I was going and it would fit. That worked. When F. got home this morning, R. came in and we all got another hour or so of sleep together. I got up and finished packing. I couldn't find my watch but figured it was in the bag somewhere.

I was worried about the time but we got to the airport in plenty of time even though F. went to the wrong parking lot first and we ended up driving around a bit, then had to drive around for some time trying to find a parking place. We waited for the shuttle from the parking lot to the airport shuttles. Then got on the airport shuttle to the terminal. We waited in line for a long time. F. couldn't go with me past the stairs so we kissed and said our good byes. It was quite difficult for me, though he seemed to handle it well.

I had to take my laptop out of the bag for the x-ray so I put my ID and ticket in my pocket, then went through the metal detector. I repacked my laptop but didn't have to pull anything else out. Starting towards my gate I put my hand in my pocket intending to check which gate I needed and discovered it was missing. I immediately went back to the x-ray place I had been at but my ticket wasn't there. I was feeling quite anxious and worried but someone did turn in my ticket so when I checked at a nearby desk it was there. My feelings were quite mixed about it. But they would just have reissued the ticket and it would cost $100 so I was glad to have refound it.

After sitting in the plane for some 40 min. waiting to leave the rest of the trip was essentially uneventful and I spent most of the time between takeoffs and landings sleeping. Tom was waiting for me when I got off.
