Work Party

Monday October 22, 2001

Yesterday was a Dearinth Work Party and we were able to get it all mowed, a path partially mulched, and a lot of leaves raked. Most of the nest turned out to help along with some friends. We are trying another approach to mulching this time. We did newspaper covered with leaves two years ago and they are pretty much completely decomposed now and the weeds and grass have once again taken over that path. This time we are trying landscaping fabric covered in leaves. Hopefully it will last a bit longer than the previous attempt.

Afterwards some of us went in the hot tub - a nice way to end a work party. But I am still sore today. Tom is either coming down with something (which he is claiming I brought back from Los Angeles with me) or just experiencing a let down. He still has very little work and we have had to take enough money out of our Money Market account to go below the minimum balance. What's left will mostly keep us for another two months and after that it means cutting into the mutual funds that are for our retirement (something that is looking less and less possible). Ah well.

I have been working on getting Dragon's Breath started and hope to have the Branch webzine ready to go by the due date of Samhain. But I am finding it very hard to get motivated since I have been home. I expected to come home revved up and ready to jump into my usual routines. Instead I am feeling slowed down, perhaps depressed a little, and not very energetic. I am very sensitive to my surroundings and Tom's low energy, somewhat depressed state of being is more difficult for me to cope with right now than it usually is. It is possible that by being away from it I have lost a certain amount of tolerance for it.
