Moving My Son

Monday September 24, 2001

Yesterday was a very tiring day. Tom and I went to Madison to help Kevin and Tracey load up the moving truck. We were expecting that there would be other people there to help and that they would actually be packed. Unfortunately, Dan couldn't make it and there was much to be packed. It was very frustrating. Brynn came after a bit and really helped with the packing. She is a lovely young woman and I enjoy her company. Tracey started out doing pretty well, entertaining, joking, keeping things light but it all got to her as well. She was tired and dispirited over the move and the packing. Kevin had spent the last week up at their new location as his job had started so wasn't home to help with the packing. At one point she was on the verge of tears but seemed to pull her self back from that later.

Tom and I had planned to stay for only a few hours as I wanted to go home and pack for my trip. But there was so much to do and we ended up staying more than twice as long and it still wasn't all done but we did get all the heavy items and much of the rest. We were quite tired when we got home. There was a message from F. but since he was at work when we got home there wasn't much point in trying to call him back then. I was too tired to pack.

Today I got up and got moving. I exercised and finished Nest to Nest, printed out the final copy, then realized the address on two forms still had to be updated. Tom does that because I can never remember how to get into them to make corrections. So he fixed them and we finally got them printed out. Yay! There were a number of odds and ends for me to catch up with but for the most part I was able to do that. F. phoned and it was so good to hear his voice. It was his birthday and I was able to wish him a happy birthday, which pleased me. I walked around collecting the items on my list and piled them on the dining room table to be packed when I got off. It only took a couple of hours to pack but it seemed like we kept coming up with some little item for me to take and I still probably forgot something.

Renee called to wish me a good trip and tell me what it had been like when Chris flew out. That was very thoughtful of her. She told me they were searching cars before letting them in the parking lot near the airport and that they would take everything out of the carryon luggage and scan it.

Jack called to say goodbye and wish me a good trip too. He is very sweet. We talked for a bit and agreed that we want to try and get another date soon.
