Last Day of the Seminar

Sunday December 15, 2002

We actually made it on time for a change. We covered the intake interview and creating scenarios out of the clients ideas about how their life would improve when they reach their stated goal. The demonstration was about weight loss using one of the seminar participants. I enjoyed the way he embedded three different metaphoric scenes in the therapy section. He used a control room image with gauges for all the functions of the body along with an owner's manual describing how to adjust each gauge that was to be read and memorized. While she was doing that he introduced the next metaphoric scene, which I don't remember. In the middle of that he went into the next one involving seeing an image of her perfect self in a mirror, feeling the energy, and eventually merging with the image. This one he completed and then returned to complete the second metaphor, then back to the first one to finally complete it.

We went to a Mexican restaurant that was just a short walk from the hotel, for lunch. One of the other participants showed up there as well and joined us at our table. We had a very pleasant conversation. She is taking spiritual psychology and is going to be ordained so that she can do spiritual advising. It was a nice contact.

Then in the afternoon we were to put it all together and do a brief session from start to finish. Again I sucked at it and was very depressed about it. My conclusion is that I need to do self-hypnosis to deal with my performance anxiety and lack of self-confidence.

After we got home I started to work on the test with F. We finished all the multiple choice, true and false, and some of the short answer questions. But I was way too tired to stay up and finish it.
