Internest has been going through a touchy time again. One of the members was unsubbed for his communication style. It has brought up questions of there being a clique, or rules applied in a discriminatory fashion. So now we are talking about trying to clearly define what constitutes actionable offenses. That is probably a good thing but I think there are still going to be perception issues. I found his posting style rather annoying myself. He had a tendency to post one or two line comments, which didn't add anything to the discussion - just a way of saying "I'm here", I think. And he responded to more posts than most people do. Since I get the digest version it is particularly noticeable to me. But that isn't a reason to unsub him. The reason seems to be that he tends to post with an abrupt, kind of hard ass style that is very abrasive. When called on it he tends to cry discrimination and talks of cliques. Still unsubbing him is a failure for us as well. Could we have done something differently, helped him to fit in, coached him in his communication style?
