Revisiting the Past

Monday July 15, 2002

This last week was fun and difficult all at the same time. This was the first time in many years that I went to one of these festivals. It was a lovely site, a state park with a lodge with kitchen, many cabins, flush toilets, etc. I knew about half the attendees from previous years. A couple attended that I used to be involved with in the Craft but we had a personal matter occur that destroyed our relationship. I found being around them to be very difficult. I still grieve the loss of our connection and found myself in tears quite often during the week. They still seem quite bitter about it. I wish for their sakes, they could let it go or move past it because it seems to be hurting them.

I also spent time visiting with old friends, reconnecting, going to workshops, etc. I learned to play Euchre though I can't say I am very good at it. And we played a card game called Scum or Great Dalmoudie (or something resembling that) in which there are various positions. If you lose the position you get up and move to another chair. So we called our positions the High Exalted Witch Queen of the Universe, High Priestess, 2nd degree, 1st degree, and mundane. Somehow we had a great time rising and falling. We laughed hysterically.

I went with M. and a friend of hers. It was wonderful to spend time with M. I got to cuddle with her though that is all we managed without privacy. Still I loved spending that time with her. I feel that we grow closer every time we are able to share our experiences. We are going to Starwood together as well, along with Tom. I am definitely hoping we manage to get together while we are there:)

Tom and I rented and watched the movie K-Pax. We enjoyed it quite a bit. I liked the idea that we each know how to heal our selves or at least have the power and ability to do so. Prot, the protagonist, gave one of the characters in the mental hospital three tasks to do. When he completed them he would be cured. One was to find the bluebird of happiness and he spotted a blue jay. The next was to kill his friend but get him help so he could be revived (the friend had disabling fear of death and anything that could cause it like germs, toxins in the air we breathe, etc.), and the final task was to remain on Earth rather than go back with Prot to K-Pax and be ready for anything. Certainly the last task is the ultimate task for anyone - to be open enough, yet able to handle anything. The movie left the issue unclear as well at the end. Did Prot and the patient he decided to take with him, Beth, return to K-Pax or not? It is up to the watcher to decide for themselves.
